Our first project was Pop Brixton, an innovative in the heart of Brixton, South London, that used recycled shipping containers and timber structures to create a thrivinc community space that is now home to 55 independent businesses.
The idea was born when Lambeth Council asked the community to propose ideas for a positive meanwhile use for a barren plot of land. Local Architect Carl Turner devised a proposal that imagined using containers to create supportive space for local, independent businesses and community groups.
Pop Brixton houses a community of now food business, retailers, makers, creative start-ups and social enterprises. As well as offering enterprise space, it is a events and entertainment destination that has welcomed 750,000 people since it opened its doors in May 2015.
